Scott Brown has become the AIA Academy/Unified Sports Coordinator. He had worked with

the AIA Academy as the Coach Education Specialist and Lead Trainer for the

previous 6 years. For 32 years he has taught physical education and coached a

variety of sports at all levels from kindergarten to college. Scott started

coaching for Special Olympics while he was still at Fort Hays State University in

1980. While he was with the Paradise Valley Unified School District, he served

as Athletic Director at North Canyon High School, as well as coaching Girls Golf

and Cross Country. He later became Athletic Administrator for the District and

again became involved with Special Olympics as a coach for the District

Basketball team. He now looks forward to coming full circle and landing back

where he started – with Special Olympics. Scott looks forward to connecting the

two groups together in a program that allows Special Olympic athletes to be

included in the high school sports experience.

Scott Brown was recognized as the AIA Pursuing Victory with Honor

Administrator of the Year in 2004, 4A Basketball Coach of the Year in 1995,

Region Basketball Coach of the Year twice, and the 2007 Northwest Region

Athletic Director of the Year, 2010 Desert Valley Region Athletic Director of the

Year, 2009 NIAAA State Award of Merit.
