Breakfast With Champions is an inspirational morning where community leaders, coaches, families and athletes come together for breakfast and to hear motivational speakers and athlete testimonials. Join us as we take a closer look at the lives of the Special Olympics Arizona athletes, both on and off the field.
Just Imagine...
In just one morning, we have the opportunity to raise enough funds to sponsor hundreds of athletes in an entire year of competition. Additionally, we will be educating over 700 community members on Special Olympics Arizona so that together, we can spread the vision of Special Olympics Arizona, overcome stereotypes and continue to build our winning team!
Our Goal...
Special Olympics Arizona has a goal of raising over $100,000 for the athletes of SOAZ at the 2008 Breakfast With Champions event.
The 2nd Annual Breakfast With Champions will be hosted by Voice of the Arizona Diamondbacks Daron Sutton. Sutton joined the Arizona Diamondbacks broadcasting team in 2007, after announcing for the Anaheim Angels and the Milwaukee Brewers. He and his wife take pride in community involvement, hosting an annual golf tournament in Milwaukee to support the Autism Society of Southwestern Wisconsin. Sutton also hosted the 2007 Breakfast With Champions event and participated in the 2008 FBR Open Special Olympics Arizona Celebrity Putting Challenge. We are thrilled to have Daron back as the host of this year's Breakfast With Champions.
We are also pleased to announce the keynote speaker of the 2008 Breakfast With Champions--Marth Beck. Martha Beck, Ph.D., holds three social-science degrees from Harvard University. She has taught a variety of subjects at Harvard and the American Graduate School of International Management. Author of several international bestsellers, including Expecting Adam and Finding Your Own North Star, and the newly published Steering By Starlight, Beck is also a monthly columnist for O, The Oprah Magazine. USA Today and Psychology Today have referred to her as “the best known life coach in America.” She lives with her family in Phoenix, Arizona. Martha has served on the Special Olympics International Board of Directors and her son competes with Special Olympics Arizona.
Be a Table Captain...
A table captain plays a vital role in the success of the event. A Table Captain commits to hosting a table for the event. He/she recruits nine potential donors to join him/her at the table and learn more about Special Olympics Arizona. It is also the role of the Table Captain to educate guests at the table on the goals of the event: to increase awareness and generate funds to support Special Olympics athletes. SOAZ will provide Table Captains with all the tools they need to host their table and ensure that every guest has a memorable experience. Table Captains will receive packets to include an event overview, a facts sheet, an outline of Table Captain roles, invitations, RSVP sheets, e-blasts and tips for encouraging guests to support the mission of the Special Olympics. SOAZ is currently recruiting table captains to attend the event and fulfill the above roles. If you are interested in being a Table Captain at Breakfast With Champions, please contact Janelle Tassart at 602-230-0081 or JanelleT@soaz.org.
Sponsor Breakfast With Champions...
There are corporate sponsorship opportunities available for Breakfast With Champions as well. Not only will you be supporting the Special Olympics Arizona athletes and introducing your colleagues to the Special Olympics Arizona family, you will receive additional benefits and recognition at the SOAZ State Competitions and more! If your company is interested in being a sponsor of this incredible event, please contact Janelle Tassart at 602-230-0081 or JanelleT@soaz.org for more information.
